The driver and 17 passengers of a Kadamba bus were injured after the bus went off the road and hit a roadside boulder at Pirna-Nagoa in Salcete on Saturday morning.

While the bus driver, Tony Fernandes, has been admitted in Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim for treatment of his injuries, the passengers were discharged after being given first aid.

Quoting the driver, Verna police said the bus was proceeding from Vasco to Margao when it went off the road after the brakes failed.

“But we have written to the RTO to certify the exact cause of the accident, which they are supposed to do in next few days. After the RTO certifies the exact cause, then we will know for sure the circumstances which caused the accident,” PSI Kamat told The Goan.

Incidents of KTC buses breaking down on the road is quite common.

The police conducted the site panchanama and registered the accident. Further investigations are on.
