Goa Children’s Court on Wednesday extended the police custody of Rosy Ferros (47) by another two days in the rape case of a minor girl involving St Cruz MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate.
She was previously remanded to three days police custody on Sunday by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Panaji.
The investigating team had sought seven days’ extension of custody for Ferros while stressing that she was not cooperating with the probe.
It was stated that Ferros was not revealing details about the transaction of Rs 50 lakh following which the girl was allegedly dropped off at Monserrate’s farmhouse in Taleigao.
In her statement, the minor girl has accused Ferros of mediating the contact and deal between Monserrate and mother of the minor.
She is a neighbour of the girl's family and hails from Caranzalem.
During questioning, Ferros repeated that she introduced the minor girl and her mother to the St Cruz legislator in order to secure employment for the girl at a gift shop owned by him in Caranzalem.
Ferros’s legal counsel Adv Damodar Dhond has moved bail application on her behalf before the court. The arguments are likely to be heard either on Thursday or on May 16.
Meanwhile, with their police custody coming to an end, Monserrate and mother of the minor girl will be presented before the Children’s Court on Thursday.
Arguments on the bail application filed by the mother will also be heard on Thursday.
