2 trucks involved in mishap at Khandepar, 1 rider narrowly escapes

A two-wheeler rider had a narrow escape on Wednesday after two trucks met with an accident at the Khandepar junction. Presence of mind saved Suhas Talekar from Kavalem, after he leaped from his scooter to avoid the trucks. Now, the locals have urged the administration to adopt precautionary measures to stop the growing number of accidents happening in this area.

The Ponda police, after being informed about the accident, visited the spot and hawaldar Krishnanath Narvekar did the panchanama. The road was blocked for traffic which was diverted from the underpass. The Ponda traffic police controlled the situation.

The locals have demanded that heavy vehicles should be banned from passing from this junction and express concern that major casualty may occur if preventive  measures aren’t taken.
