The incident occurred at about 5.30 pm when the deceased was swimming in the pool. Police sources informed that the deceased youth, Ishant Shettye, who was in the pool for almost 45 minutes suddenly collapsed in the pool while he was swimming. The lifeguard on duty and others in the pool rushed to his aid and brought him out of the pool and administered him artificial respiration. He was then rushed to the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, where the doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.
