The Goa Headmasters' Association (GHA) will organise a state-level conference on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, in which 250 heads of schools are expected to participate.

The two-day residential conference on ‘Whole-school approach to transformation: enabling leaders to achieve vision NEP2020’ will be held in association with NIEPA-New Delhi and Goa Samagra Shiksha at St Joseph Vaz Renewal Centre at Old Goa.

Speaking to reporters at a media conference on Tuesday, GHA past president and coordinator of the conference Vilas Satarkar said the conference was planned as it was important to get together and discuss NEP before it got implemented.

“We thought of getting together and discussing NEP as it is after a long time we are having an education policy which is focusing on major changes in the education system all over India. Around 250 heads of school will participate in the same and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will inaugurate it,” Satarkar informed.

“We are almost at the stage of implementation and once the government implements it, we should not be in a position of being caught unawares of the changes,” said Satarkar, while highlighting the importance of the conference.

Various aspects of NEP 2020 will be discussed at the conference, including appraisal, extensions and action points for school leaders, nurturing professional learning communities, panel discussion on school complexes and session on mental health and well-being.

GHA president Madhav Kharvy, Vice President Marsakant Deshpande and Past President Mariano Valadares were present.
