Stating that injustice is meted out to students of Other Backward Classes (OBC), the Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh “ Goa State has demanded that the government should provide reservation for OBCs for admissions in post graduate courses in Goa Medical College.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Tuesday, Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh “ Goa State President Madhu Naik informed then Under Secretary (Health) had on May 4, 2020 directed the GMC Dean to implement reservation for SC, ST and OBC from academic year 2021-22 at the Post Graduate level in Goa Medical College.
“Prior to passing the order, all the seats were full. We were then told that the reservations will be done the next academic year. However, 110 general category students challenged the order in the High Court and it was quashed on October 11, 2021,” Naik stated.

Among the other demands of the Mahasangh include enacting of a Bill reserving 27% seats in Goa Legislative Assembly for OBCs, reservation in promotion for OBCs in State government offices, etc.
