Bangala Natak Dot Com Founder Amitav Bhattacharya on Saturday appealed to the youth to be peace ambassadors of the country.
Bhattacharya was speaking at the inaugural function of the two-day 23rd Goa Yuva Mahotsav, which got underway at Shri S S Angle Higher Secondary School Grounds, Maxem-Loliem.
Over 2,500 youth from 32 groups representing colleges and clubs are participating in 14 different competitions on stages and venues at the 2-days Mahotsav.
“India is such a vast and diverse country, that languages and cultures differ in every area. The youth should be peace ambassadors of the nation,” said Bhattacharya.
Earlier in his welcome address, Organizing Committee and Ravindra Bhavan (Margao) Chairman Prashant Naik, who is also Shri Nirakar Education Society chairman, said it was for the first time that Opinion Poll was celebrated as ‘Asmitai Diwas’ at the government level.
“From the next academic year, we expect the inclusion of ‘Opinion Poll’ in the school curriculum and every school in Goa will celebrate ‘Asmitai Diwas’ on a larger scale,” he said.
Konkani Bhasha Mandal President Chetan Acharya called on the youth to join and take forward the movement of Goa’s identity,
“Nearly 23 years ago, we as youth had started the Yuva Mahotsav and though we have become old, we still continue to take it ahead. This movement is for the young minds to excel and the more the youth are involved, the more beneficial it will be for the present and future generations,” said Acharya.
