Porvorim Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Karnataka in connection with an alleged rape case.
According to police, the woman complained that the accused, a native of Ballari, befriended her and allegedly had sexual intercourse with her after promising to marry her. She claimed that he later refused to marry her.
The woman also alleged that the accused gave her intoxicating drinks to facilitate sexual intercourse and later posted her private photographs on social media.
Based on her complaint, Porvorim Police registered an FIR and formed a team that travelled to Hyderabad and Ballari. The accused was arrested in Ballari on August 2.
The accused has been identified as Ravi Teja (25), a resident of Moka, Ballari, Karnataka. He has been arrested under Sections 69, 123 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The police team comprised Police Sub-Inspector Viraj Sawant and constables Akash Navelkar and Sangam Matonkar.
Further investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Police Inspector Tukaram Chavan and SDPO Vishwesh Karpe.
