The two-day Tribal festival organised by the Adivasi Sangatana Kepem in collaboration with the Directorate of Art and Culture and Directorate of Tribal Welfare, will showcase the rich cultural heritage, besides the traditional tribal craft, besides varied cuisine and food products of the tribals.
Addressing the media, president of the Adivasi Sangatana Kepem Caetano Carvalho said the two-day tribal festival scheduled on January 6-7 at Copealabhat football ground, Ambaulim, will be inaugurated at the hands of Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral in the presence of Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias, Sanguem former-MLA Subhash Fal Desai, Margao Municipal Vice-Chairperson Tito Cardozo, Assistant Director of Art and Culture, Milind Mate and APEO of Quepem John Fernandes.
"The festival aims at promoting and protecting the tribal art, culture, craft and games which are diminishing by the day. Different food stalls, of varied cuisine, food products of the tribals, tribal craft will be on display and sale," he added.
The first day will see various traditional item making competitions like "Molla Vinop", San'n bandop", Nivoni, Fulla Fat Vinnap along with the traditional games like Chateani, Logoreani, Ton Barani, tug of war and breaking the pot. This will be followed by the Zagor presented by a troupe headed by Mahesh Gaude from Ponda.
