3 kg gold seized at Dabolim

A passenger from Tamil Nadu was arrested on charges of smuggling 3 kgs of gold, amounting to Rs 25 lakh, at Dabolim airport in the wee hours of Monday.

According to sources, Abu Bakkar Abdul Ansari had arrived from Dubai at Dabolim airport and had concealed the gold in his hand baggage. The three gold bars weighed one kilogram each.   
When contacted, the Customs attached to Dabolim airport said it was unable to provide any information as the raid was conducted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Panaji.   
This is the first gold seizure of 2017. 
In 2016, the Customs attached to Dabolim airport seized 2.532 kgs of gold, amounting to Rs 65 lakh that was abandoned in a flight toilet. The year 2015 saw the biggest seizure of smuggled gold and 31 cases of gold smuggling were registered.

Minor boy responsible for burglaries nabbed at Comba

A 16-year old minor boy from Pune, who was responsible for over a dozen burglaries in the commercial capital in the last one month, was finally nabbed at Comba, but the residents and victims have requested the men-in-uniform to recover the stolen items, including gold ornaments, laptops and cell phones from him at the earliest.
