3 seriously hurt in assault at Parra

Three persons were seriously injured in a dispute between neighbours over property matter in Parra on Tuesday.

In his complaint to Mapusa Police, Vinod Suttar of Silva-Vaddo, Parra stated that he along with his brothers, Prakash and Arjun, and their mother were at home.

Suddenly at around 1.30 pm, the complainant heard calls for help from his sister, Aruna Palyekar, who resided nearby.

When the complainant rushed out along with his brothers they found the alleged accused “ Darshana Pednekar, Dipesh Pednekar, Atesh Pednekar, Vikas Tirodkar and another one person had confronted his sister and were beating her up with dandas, police informed.

They rushed to their sister’s rescue and in the ensuing scuffle, the complainant’s sister, Aruna and brother, Prakash, were seriously injured. Vikas from the other group was also seriously injured.

All three have been admitted in Goa Medical College and Hospital.

Mapusa Police have registered an offence under sections 143, 147, 148, 341, 504, 324, 326, 506, 509, 354 and 354 A of IPC for rioting, assault, injury, threatening and molestation on the five accused.

No arrests were made till late in the evening and Mapusa Police is conducting further investigation.

THE GOAN NETWORK BICHOLIM: A 37-year-old native of Tulas-Vengurla in Maharashtra drowned in the Bhandara at Vathadev-Bicholim on Tuesday. According to Bicholim Police, Mukesh Mhalkar, who was presently residing at Vathadev, had gone to bathe in the Bandhara water, after having cut his hair at about 2 pm.
