PORVORIM
While one clock came crashing down due to strong winds, the Rotary Club decided to remove the two other clocks to prevent any further mishap.
Incidentally, the clock tower had become an attraction for residents in the area after it was inaugurated barely three weeks ago.
When contacted, a source from the Rotary Club said Porvorim had witnessed a heavy downpour and gusty winds.
“As a result, the clocks installed on the clock tower got loose and one of the clocks fell down. The other two clocks were also on the verge of falling down. Hence, the Rotary Club decided to remove the remaining two clocks to prevent any further mishap,” said the source.
“The issue was discussed with Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte and the Rotary Club has decided to replace all three clocks with digital clocks.”
“Soon, digital clocks will be installed and signages will also be displayed at the bottom of the clock tower for the benefit of motorists,” the source added.
