GPCC president Shantaram Naik on Monday disclosed that Coal Minister Piyush Goyal warned members of the all-party delegation led by MGP’s Sudin Dhavalikar that they can be imprisoned for speaking on behalf of the state’s mining lobby.
Speaking to the press, Naik informed that Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Babu Kavalekar, Tivim MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar, BJP’s Vishwajit Rane and Pramod Sawant were a part of the delegation that had submitted a memorandum before the Centre seeking resumption of mining activities in Goa.
“The All-Party delegation met several central ministers including Piyush Goyal who told the delegation that they will go to jail if they support continuation and renewal of mining leases,” Naik said while reiterating his support for the renewal of all mining leases in Goa instead of conducting fresh auction.
Meanwhile, the Congress launched heavy criticism on the 3-minister committee made by CM Manohar Parrikar to govern the state in his absence.
“CM has made an arrangement of three CMs. Rules of business have been modified. There is no provision for appointment of such a committee. Nobody knows the procedural flow. This unconstitutional arrangement is a fraud upon the administration,” Naik said.
