The Goa Police arrested five persons, including a Nigerian, in separate drug raids in the North Goa on Wednesday-Thursday.
The raids by Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) at Morjim and Guirim on Wednesday saw the arrest of four suspected drug peddlers - Priyanshu Sharma, aged 22 years old and native of Uttar Pradesh; Saneel Naik (30) from Porvorim, Nigerian national Onnegbu Uche Justus (37) and Ishayak Khan (27) of West Bengal for peddling drugs.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Nerlon Albuquerque stated that Sharma was caught red-handed in the illegal possession of 20 gms of suspected Ganja and two gms of MDMA, all worth Rs 22,000, while Naik was arrested in a subsequent action for having supplied the drugs to the first accused.
Justus was found in possession of 20.65 gms of suspected MDMA and 35.20 gms of Ecstasy powder, worth Rs 5.58 lakh approx and Khan is charged with accompanying Sharma in the illegal activity.
In a separate raid by Colvale police, Aniket Kumar (23) residing at Verna and a native of Bihar was on Thursday arrested for allegedly peddling 2.50 kg of Ganja worth Rs 2.50 lakh at Colvale.
DySP Jivba Dalvi said that the Colvale police laid a trap upon a tip-off that a person would be arriving at four road junction with the consignment to deliver to his prospective customer. He was caught red handed with the banned substances and subsequently placed under arrest.
The alleged peddler will be produced before the court for remand.
