6 of family from Mayem take ill after eating wild mushrooms

Six members of a family from Mayem took ill after consuming wild mushrooms purchased from a vendor at the Bicholim market.

According to reports, a man from Mayem bought wild mushrooms on Monday morning, and the family prepared and consumed the wild mushrooms.

Later in the day, the man and five members of his family took ill and were admitted to the Primary Health Centre. As their condition deteriorated, they were moved to the Goa Medical College Hospital in Bambolim for further treatment.

Three of them recovered and were later discharged from the GMC Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Wild mushrooms are in huge demand and are sold all over the State, but there are no checks on the nature and quality of the wild mushrooms being sold to customers.
