Arnoldo Soares (69), who was found murdered in his house in Orda-Candolim on Sunday afternoon, is believed to have been stabbed to death with a sharp knife.
Police are on the lookout for the accused who was seen on CCTV footage as he fled with the car belonging to the deceased from Candolim to Sinquerim, where the vehicle was abandoned near the helipad. His face was not clearly visible on account of the heavy rains.
According to police, the accused stabbed Soares 5-6 times in the back with a sharp weapon. After killing Soares in one room of the house, the accused reportedly dragged the body to the sitting room, before fleeing with the car of Soares.
Since the deceased was a Canadian national with Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, police has got in touch with the Canadiam Embassy for permission to carry out the autopsy on the body.
