The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is likely to review the trolley contracts and services at Dabolim airport, following complaints from passengers.
According to reports, a video of a trolley service at Dabolim airport recently went viral on social media. The video made by social activist Michael Ferns highlighted that a contractor at Dabolim Airport had set up a Swagat counter at the airport. Employees of the trolley contractor were also shown carrying baggage of passengers on trolleys for a small charge.
Seeking to clarify, Dabolim Airport Director B C H Negi informed that the contractor was awarded the Meet and Greet Service Contract by AAI around one-and-half years ago, following due process through tenders.
“The scope of work includes providing assistance to passengers, if they wish to avail the service, to carry their baggage using AAI trolleys. It’s a paid service as per the contract. This service is as per AAI policy and is available at other AAI airports also,” said Negi.
“There is one more contract in place which is only to collect trolleys from various places inside and outside the airport and keep them at the designated locations at the airport for the use of passengers,”
said Negi.
However, Negi admitted that after receiving some complaints, the AAI was in the process of reviewing both trolley-related contracts.  “As far as cleanliness is concerned, we have a new contract in place with provision for manning individual washrooms,” he said.
