As part of its continuous efforts to give back to society, Aakash Educational Services Ltd, the national leader in test preparation services, kick-started its “Junk the Plastic” campaign in Goa by organising a plogging activity on Miramar beach in Panaji.
The activity started with a march by around 40 students studying at the two centres of AESL in Panaji and Margao along with faculty and staff highlighting the effects of plastic on the environment, from Kala Academy in the city culminating at the Miramar beach.
The initiative was flagged off by Mayor of Panaji Uday Madkaikar, who was the chief guest. Abhishek Kumar Sinha, Deputy Director, Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), was also present.
While addressing the students, the Madkaikar said, “Plastic today is a major health hazard for the environment, more so for an ecologically-sensitive state like Goa which is a major tourist destination. This is the right time to highlight this issue with the tourist season setting in so that everyone understands the importance of keeping our famous beaches clean.”
Commenting on the campaign, Aakash Chaudhry, Co-Promoter and CEO at Aakash Educational Services Ltd (AESL) and Founder and Trustee at Plaksha University, said, “Plastic is the biggest wonder that mankind ever created. But, today this man-made creation is leading to problems that have not been handled correctly. It is time for the world to let go of its plastic addiction and completely migrate to biodegradable alternatives. We at Aakash Institute feel an immense responsibility towards environmental degradation.”
The ‘Junk the Plastic’ campaign kick-started in Delhi NCR on Monday where AESL has tied up with Shayna Ecounified India Pvt Ltd, a Government of India recognized recycling company that converts waste plastics into productive use by making dustbins, structural tiles, floor tiles and paver tiles.
