The Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim candidate Captain Venzy Viegas and AAP Navelim candidate Pratima Coutinho on Tuesday hit back at TMC Benaulim candidate Churchill Alemao for politicising the demolition of Little Flower Church of Delhi, stating that Churchill's politics of hate and propaganda demonstrates his fear of losing votes.
Captain Viegas and Pratima Coutinho asserted that neither Congress nor Churchill Alemao have addressed the concerns of Goans throughout the last five years. They haven't done anything for the betterment of their people. Because they have no vision for their constituencies, both parties have resorted to politics of hate by defaming AAP in order to earn votes.
Viegas said, "Churchill filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court ten days before the election, requesting orders to rebuild Little Flowers Church, which was demolished last year. However, the Delhi government helped rebuild the temporary prayer centre before Christmas, so that people could celebrate Christmas and New Year there. As the Goa election draws nearer, Churchill has been using religion to play his political game."
He added, "Usually, church doesn't get involved in politics. However, Churchill trying to politicise the issue made Church to issue a press release stating that only the AAP helped to build a temporary prayer centre prior to Christmas and New Year".
"Kejriwal, however, has overlooked the need to to publicise the help he has provided to the Church, since AAP does not rely on religion to play politics. With the AAP focused on solving the plight of the common people, the party does not rely on propaganda for political mileage", he said.
AAP Navelim candidate Pratima Coutinho urged Salcete voters not to get carried away by the propaganda of TMC leaders Churchill Alemao and his daughter Valanka Alemao.
Coutinho said, "Avertano Furtado of the Congress and the Alemao family of the TMC have been spreading propaganda. This is a shameless act that proves their insecurity."
"In the midst of the pandemic, when people were in need, Avertano Furtado was nowhere to be found. All the leaders had their own development in mind. Now, they are trying to gain votes with money, muscle power, and propaganda", she added.
