AAP files petition with HC on health sector recruitment

PANAJI

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday stated that it has filed a petition before the High Court over a health sector recruitment issue.

AAP also said that its leader Amit Palekar was refused entry when he tried to visit the GMC Dean in connection with the recruitment scam on Tuesday.

In a press release, AAP stated that Palekar claimed police had been deployed in front of Dean's building so the leader could be arrested.

"I wanted to meet the Dean at GMC, but Chief Minister Pramod Sawant deployed police at GMC to prevent me from doing so. GMC is a public facility, not their private property. What are the Health Minister and the Chief Minister hiding? What are they scared of?", questioned Palekar.

While addressing the media on Tuesday, he said: "Police officials have told me I should file a complaint as per the law after I provided them with video evidence of irregularities in the health sector recruitment. I told them a cognizable offence had been committed in the Deans' building".

"Following the Supreme Court guidelines, the police official is liable. He should look into the matter. However, at present, the police machinery is in the hands of the BJP. We have no faith that's why the AAP has not filed a complaint. Earlier today, we filed a petition before the high court, and we will pursue it", Palekar added.

He said, "I tried to get an appointment with GMC's director and dean, but when I arrived they were both gone. They don't have an answer to my question, so that's why they fled. There is a major scam in the health sector than the PWD sector. The Chief Minister knows this, which is why police were deployed at the Dean's building to arrest me today. Despite having video evidence, CM Sawant has not been taking any action".
