PANAJI
The Aam Aadmi Party in the State has withdrawn from the race to contest the Panaji and Valpoi by-elections with the party deciding that it would be prudent to refrain from contesting in order to avoid confusing the electorate.
In a statement, the party has made its stand clear that it wants the people of Goa to "firmly reject the politics of opportunism, deceit and treachery played out by the current dispensation which is foisting an unnecessary election at great expense to the public exchequer, only to compel a desired outcome," the party said in a statement.
"AAP believes that if people surrender their right to loudly assert their voice through their vote, there is little one can do to save democracy. The slogan of Save Goa remains a hollow one if we keep re-electing those who continuously cheat us on this score," the party added.
The party has, however, promised to work hard to reorganise and rebuild the party at the grassroot level so as to be ready for the next big challenge of the General Election with the sole aim to free the political environment of Goa from the clutches of communal, corrupt, criminal and characterless politicians, who over the years have sold the interest of our state and it's citizens to the highest bidders.
