Asserting that the youth is responsible for bringing about a change in Benaulim in the just-concluded election, Aam Aadmi Party MLA-elect Capt. Venzy Viegas said assured the people of Benaulim in particular and Goans in general that AAP will be the voice of Goans in the assembly in the next five years.

He also unveiled plans to hold Janata dharbar across the constituency to find out the problems of the people and offer solutions.

Venzy and AAP volunteers celebrated the victory in Benaulim by taking out a victory rally in the constituency on Monday as he vowed to take Benaulim forward to make the constituency a unique one.

“This is the age of the youth. You cannot underestimate the younger generation. I was underestimated, but the people of Benaulim took the decision to bring about the change. The future is our future and the change has taken place because of the youth”, he told the media in the presence of AAP Benaulim Zilla Panchayat member Hanzel Fernandes and others.

Outlining his plans for Benaulim, Venzy said since the students will soon be answering the SSC and HSSC board examinations, a career guidance programme will be organised for the youth as part of a short term plan so that they can decide how to go about with their career.

Saying that the monsoon preparedness will be taken up on a war footing with the monsoons only three months away, Venzy said infrastructure development, both primary and secondary development, will be given priority.

“We will work out an immediate solution for the business stakeholders so that they gear up for the next season after the monsoon. A single window system for the shack owners and the hotel industry will be put in place”, he said.

Announcing plans to accord priority for the health sector, Venzy said the constituency is in need of a hospital but said he would not go against the people who have been opposing the site for the proposed hospital in Benaulim.

“There’s no question of bulldozing with any project against the wishes of the people”, he added.
