The ghost of abandoned vehicles has now come to haunt the Konkan Railway officials and the Railway Protection Force even as the South Goa district authorities and the powers that be in the commercial capital have miserably failed to cap the nuisance.
For, the sprawling Margao railway station premises have become a favourite dumping ground for abandoned vehicles, including two-wheelers. It’s not uncommon to find two-wheelers abandoned in the parking lot at the Margao railway station, so much so that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has dashed off letters to the Goa police and the Transport department to verify the vehicles left behind at the station premises and initiate action.
KRC Senior Officer, Public Relations, Baban Ghatge, said, ”We have come across several vehicles, including two-wheelers, which lay abandoned at the station premises. Seeing their condition, it is evident these vehicles must have been abandoned at the parking lot of the Margao railway station for a long time now,” he said.
“This is a serious nuisance faced at the Margao railway station. The RPF will do a follow-up with the police and transport department to initiate action against the owners,” he said.
