The Anti Corruption Bureau has summoned Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar to remain present on Monday for questioning in the Rs 4.78 crore disproportionate assets case which was registered against him in September last year.
Kavlekar has already had their premises at Quepem searched back in the month of September.
The Anti Corruption Bureau had booked Kavlekar and his wife under Anti Corruption Act upon the conclusion of seven and half years of a probe into his assets and properties. ACB has listed at least 14 properties purchased by Kavlekar between January 2007 and April 2013 in Kerala while also calculating that Kavlekar’s disproportionate assets at a whopping 59.21 percent of his declared sources of income. On Saturday, ACB had raided his Betul residence and his offices at Quepem and Margao.
Meanwhile, the ACB continues to investigate the source of ₹5.5 crore, which in addition to Rs 4.78 crore worth disproportionate assets, could push Kavalekar’s undeclared assets to 200 percent of his known sources of income.
It was during one such raid that the ACB discovered alleged “Matka” slips in a drawer at his house prompting them to register a separate case under the Goa Anti Gambling Act.
