Addressing the media called to hand over the updated electoral rolls to the representatives of the political parties, the Additional Collector said the process to update the electoral roll had commenced on October 20 last in the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency. “In South Goa, we have as many as 20 Assembly segments. Though Priol falls in South Goa district for the purpose of Assembly election, the segment is part of the North Goa Parliamentary constituency during the Lok Sabha polls,” he said.
He added: “The process starts with the filing of forms 6, 7 and 8. During the entire process, the election officials had received a whopping 77,319 applications, out of which 6,25,666 were processed by the officials.”
He said around 22,000 applications for inclusion of new voters in the electoral rolls were received by the election officials, adding that around 15,475 new voters were finally included in the rolls.
