A driver from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been booked by Vasco police after a passenger died in a road accident near the Dabolim Airport flyover.

According to police, the accident occurred at around 12.50 am on July 7 at the exit side of Dabolim Airport near the curve of the grade separator flyover.

The accused, Rajveer Singh, was allegedly driving the car in a rash and negligent manner when he lost control while negotiating the curve. The vehicle crashed into the parapet wall and safety barrier of the flyover with such force that its airbags were deployed.

The passenger, Ramesh Chaudhary, a resident of Mundara in Pali district of Rajasthan, suffered grievous injuries in the crash. He was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital at Chicalim for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

Vasco police have registered a case against the driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving causing death.

The investigation is being carried out by PSI Akanksh Fadte Dessai of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
