A 39-year-old man from Assam but residing at Velsao was arrested late Sunday night on charges of raping a 14-year-old minor girl from Velsao.
According to sources, the parents had taken their minor daughter to a doctor for a checkup when they realised that the girl was two months pregnant
"The parents of the girl then filed a complaint with the Verna police who began investigation. Verna police then arrested a 39-year-old man from Assam but residing in Velsao under Section 376 IPC and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act and POCSO Act on charges of rape of the minor girl. The accused was produced before a court on Monday and was remanded to two days in police custody," said the source.
Verna PSI Riyanka Naik is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Diago Gracias.
