Just consider this. The lady post master is presently on leave, while a lone LDC grade personnel is manning the post office for want of manpower. The post office is supposed to start operation everyday at 9 am, but the LDC, hailing from Vasco, who is presently holding temporary charge in place of the post master, reports to the post office only after 10 am or thereafter.

For the last several days, the lone LDC had to encounter another problem. After the lady post master proceeded on leave, the system came to a halt as he was not equipped with the password. In fact, many a citizen had to repeatedly return home disappointed with the LDC insisting that he has no password of the post master, bringing day-to-day functioning almost to a halt.
A citizen, who visited the Assolna post office on Tuesday told The Goan that she has come to the post office for the fourth time in the last few days. He said non-availability of the password with the LDC has hampered the operations.
When The Goan drew attention of the Post Master General of Goa, Vinod Kumar, on the state of affairs at the Assolna post office, he said most of the post offices in Goa are understaffed for want of manpower, while hoping that the department may tide over the situation in the next 4-5 months. "Manpower constraint is a major issue affecting the post office across Goa. But we are hopeful that a solution will come in the days ahead," he told The Goan.

MARGAO: Post Master General of Goa, Vinod Kumar, said around 100 posts are lying vacant in the post offices across the State, which is hampering day-to-day functioning in these offices.
Kumar said the postal authorities in Goa are facing a challenging task to run the operations with the existing manpower, while exuding confidence that the situation will stabilize to some extent after the recruitment of around 45-47 personnel in the next one month.
He told The Goan that the delay in the recruitment of the necessary manpower was hit after some candidates had knocked the doors of the court to challenge the recruitment process. "In the next one- two months, we expect to recruit around 45 people,"
he said, adding that the situation should normalize after five to six months.
