The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has issued a demolition order for an illegal construction linked to Suleman Khan alias Siddiqui, a man accused of murder and alleged involvement in land-related crimes.
The structure, located at Ektanagar, Housing Board, Mapusa, was reportedly built without prior permission.
Khan has been given 15 days to demolish the structure, failing which the MMC will carry out the demolition and recover the cost from him.
Municipal authorities had inspected the site in January 2022, identifying illegal constructions at Chalta No 2, PT Sheet No 67 at Ektanagar.
The property was fenced with wire, and several unauthorised structures were erected.
Following the inspection, the MMC issued a show-cause notice under Section 184(8) of the Goa Municipal Act, 1968.
A hearing was later conducted, during which Khan was given the opportunity to present evidence proving the legality of the property and construction. However, he failed to produce any valid documents, nor did he appear at the hearing.
As a result, the Chief Officer of the Mapusa Municipal Council passed a unilateral order against him.
This is not the first time Suleman Khan has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
In September 2020, the Mapusa Police registered a case against Khan and several others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to forgery and fraud, including Sections 419 (cheating by personation), 465 (punishment for forgery), 466 (forging a record of court or of public register), 467 (forgery of valuable security), and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating).
He was accused of fraudulently transferring 20,000 square meters of land in Ektanagar using forged documents and fake rubber stamps
Additional charges of forgery and fraud were also filed under Sections 471, 472, and 420.
The complaint was lodged by the then sub-registrar, leading to the police investigation into the alleged illegal land dealings.
The municipal council’s latest order adds to the growing list of legal troubles faced by Suleman Khan.
