The Bombay High Court at Goa has directed the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to arrange alternative premises for displaced vendors while handling the legality of their operations separately.
The Bench indicated that no one should face inconvenience. The Court is hearing a petition filed by meat vendors challenging the CCP’s sealing of their shops in the Panaji municipal fish market building.
In its recent order, the Court had given same instructions to the CCP to provide alternate premises for the affected vendors wherein the Corporation was directed to submit a structural stability report of the market building, and submit a plan for relocation. The report is to be prepared by the Goa Engineering College by September 18.
The petitioners have also urged the Bench to de-seal their shops and allow them to continue their business until rehabilitated.
