Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate was admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the wee hours of Monday after he suffered a heart attack.
Doctors at the State’s premier health institution conducted an emergency angioplasty a little after midnight at around 1.30 am.
According to GMCH Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar the minister is stable now and he is recuperating. He said he (Babush) is admitted in the super-speciality block of the hospital.
He is likely to be kept under observation of the doctors for at least another couple of days, Dr Bandekar added.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane echoed Dr Bandekar’s statement on Monserrate’s condition and added that he is personally monitoring care being given to the minister. “Doctors are taking care of everything...GMC will do all that is necessary”, Rane was quoted as saying.
