Venus Habib, the accused arrested after eight minor girl children were rescued from a flat at Baina, has been remanded to five days in police custody.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday evening, Mormugao DySP Sunita Sawant said Vasco police would be probing into every angle of the case.
“The accused has been granted five days police custody by the Vasco JMFC Court and we have taken keen interest in investigating every angle of this case,” said DySP Sawant. “The shelter home was not registered. We have sought all information from the Women and Child Welfare Department. During a search of the flat, we found some photographs, flat documents and property documents.”
“We have attached the belts, water pipes, knife, gas cylinder and gas stove and we have sealed both the flats. We have also sent these minor girls for a medical examination to ascertain burn marks on their bodies.”
