Bajrang Dal activists slammed Calangute Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira for putting up an attitude and disrespecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but when questioned whether it was proper to install a statute without permission walked off from the media.
“Despite our requests, the sarpanch refused to climb down from his stand and put up an attitude. We had made a number of requests to the panchayat to allow us to install the statue but they refused to grant us the permission,” said Viraj Desai, coordinator of Bajrang Dal, Goa.
When The Goan questioned him whether the installation of the statue was illegal as it had no permission from the panchayat nor from the other authorities, Desai and his group cut the briefing short and walked off.
“If you ask us such questions then it’s better we move out from here,” Desai said and walked off.
