Truck operators from Sanvordem were in for a rude shock after batteries from as many as 11 trucks, which were parked at an open place in Sanvordem, were stolen on Friday night.
The incident came to light early Saturday morning after the truckers had gone to start their vehicles to begin their day’s work.
The burglars stole the batteries after breaking the glass of the side door and in some cases, by breaking the lock of the driver’s door.
Sources said stolen truck batteries are sold for a considerable amount in the used market.
Affected truck owners lodged a complaint at the Curchorem Police Station on Saturday morning.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that such an incident is reported in Sanvordem and similar cases have been reported earlier, but with no breakthrough.
A few days ago, miscreants are also reported to have stolen diesel from the tanks of trucks parked at the same place.
