After organising its meetings in Mandrem and Sakhali constituencies to spread awareness on Medium of Instruction (MoI) issue, the Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) will organise its third public meeting at the Shiroda Panchayat ‘mantap’ on May 8, at 4.30 pm.

Addressing a news conference in the city on Monday, the BBSM members said they are hopeful of getting all permissions from the authorities. Ramdas Saraf, Adv Hrudhaynath Shirodkar, Govind Dev, Gurudas Karekar and Manoj Amshekar were present.

Saraf said they have formed several committees in Shiroda constituency to spread awareness on MoI.

“We are expecting 3500 people from Shiroda constituency and we have also invited Shiroda MLA Mahadev Naik for the meeting,” Saraf said.

He said youth will stage a two-wheeler rally on May 4 evening, to seek support of the people. The rally will start from Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir and will procceed towards Bethora, Nirankal, Shiroda, Borim, Kapileshwari and back to Ponda. “Youth from three wards of Borim will also stage a rally on May 7 and it will be within Borim,” he informed.

When asked whether they have obtained permissions from authorities, Shirodkar said they have got permission for the venue and others are in process. “We are hopeful of getting all the necessary permissions,” Shirodkar added.

The BBSM members have praised Union Minister for Ayush Shripad Naik and Panchayat Minister Rajendra Arlekar for reportedly supporting the BBSM movement.
