Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) leader Subhash Desai said they would exert pressure on the State government till their demands for withdrawal of grants to primary schools in English medium are stopped.

Desai was speaking at the BBSM meeting organised by Mandrem block at Hanuman Temple, Mandrem, on Wednesday.

“In a bid to protect Indian languages, the government will be pressurized till our demands are met,” said Desai.

At the meeting, it was decided to create awareness around Pernem taluka by distributing flyers and erecting promotional signboards. The members have also planned a motorcycle rally, youth meet, women's meet, youth rally, corner meet and street plays as part of their agitation.

BBSM leaders, Prof Subhash Velingkar, Prof Gajanan Mandrekar, Ashok Mandrekar, Taruni Gaunkar, V G Shetgoankar , Laxmikant Shetgoankar and others were present for the meeting.
