Benaulim Aam Aadmi Party MLA Capt Venzy Viegas on Saturday launched the twin dream projects in his native Village Carmona, comprising of a Panchayat ground and repairs and renovation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus school.
Launching the projects in the presence of GSIDC vice-Chairman, MLA Kedar Naik, Venzy said the twin projects are a significant milestone towards development in Benaulim constituency.
He said the foundation stone for the Carmona Panchayat ground has been laid with the government issuing the work order for the contractor shortlisted to execute the project. “We can start work on the ground project immediately. Because, the contractor has been issued the work order to execute the work”, he said.
The MLA said though the two projects are happening in his native village Carmona, Venzy said the impact of the projects will be felt across Benaulim. “These two projects is a success borne out of determination to usher in the development of the constituency”, he added.
Reminding that he had his school from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Venzy took the platform to thank all the teachers who had taught him and many students during his school days.
The MLA also took the opportunity to thank Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for sanctioning the projects saying “by sanctioning the projects, the CM has endorsed his vision for Viksit Goem and all round development of the state”.
He added; There was a culture of no accountability from the MLAs. No one was taking the accountability what the MLA was doing over the years. We have brought about a change after my election. We keep the works before the people what we have done after our election”.
GSIDC vice-Chairman, ML Kedar Naik said the government has taken up the development of the Carmona panchayat grounds given that football is deeply rooted in the culture of Goans. "It is the dream of the government to have ground in every village. Your MLA Venzy has realised your dream. Be it the school renovation project or the playground, your MLA works with dedication and commitment to take the projects to the logical conclusion”.
