Bicholim police new premises almost ready
Could move in by end of June

Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal on Monday visited the old Primary Health Centre (PHC) premises to take stock of the ongoing work of the new Bicholim police station.
The Bicholim Police station will be shifted to the old PHC premises, due to the dilapidated condition of the old police station building.
Sawal was accompanied by Bicholim DySP Ramesh Gaonkar, PI Narayan Chimulkar, former Bicholim municipal councillors Shashikant Naik Halarnkar and Bhagwan Harmalkar, Naresh Kadkade, Sudin Nayak and GSIDC officials.
During the visit, Sawal found that the work of renovating the old PHC building, where the new police station will be shifted, has been completed to the extent of 95 percent. He expressed confidence that it will be possible to shift the Bicholim Police station to a new place by the end of June.
It may be recalled that following people’s request, the State government decided to shift the Bicholim Police station to a new place at old PHC building, as the condition of the old police station building was dilapidated. The old PHC building was taken up for renovation by GSIDC at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
There are plans to demolish the old police station building once the police station is shifted. Further, a new full-fledged building complex will be constructed at the old police station building premises and once the new building project is completed all government offices will be housed in the building.
