Historian Rajendra Kerkar has stressed on the need to protect Sanskirt language as it provides hidden knowledge to a person.
He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating 'Sanskrit Day' celebrations at Shri Shantadurga Higher Secondary School.
School Principal Suresh Naik, Sanskrit lecturer Veena Vishant Vaze and Santosh Chanekar were present at the function.
Kerkar also narrated the history of Sanskrit language, while students presented a welcome song in Sanskrit language.
Earlier, Vaze delivered the introductory address, while Somnath Pilgaonkar introduced the guests. A student, Shalaka Sawaikar, compered the function in Sanskrit language.
