PANAJI:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has defended the government from allegations of corruption levelled by the opposition Congress into the jobs for cash expose.

Addressing a press conference, BJP Spokesperson Yatish Naik said that the quick action of the police into the complaints of job scam and the subsequent arrests was a direct result of the government's proactive approach.

"It is the government's initiative that has led to the first FIR being filed against these conmen and conwomen. The investigation is ongoing, and the Chief Minister has made it clear that nobody will be spared," Naik said.

According to Naik, the opposition's accusations were politically motivated, aiming to undermine the government's credibility.

"The opposition's role is to create mischief. They sit in air-conditioned rooms and make baseless allegations, but it is the government that is working for the people's welfare," he said.

He also urged citizens to support the government's actions and come forward with any relevant information. "If anyone has any complaints or information about these conmen, the government is firm in taking action. The police are doing their job, and the investigation is going to the root of it," Naik assured.

Naik further clarified that the government was committed to transparency, particularly in the recruitment process. "The Staff Selection Commission and the GPSC exams are in place to ensure that government jobs are filled based on merit," he reiterated. "Anyone trying to cheat the system will be held accountable."
