Pooja now held for abetment to suicide

Mardol police on Saturday arrested Pooja Naik in connection with the abetment to suicide of a government employee, Shridhar Satarkar.

His wife had complained of mental torture and harassment prompting him to take the extreme step.

According to police reports, Mardol police on November 4, 2024 had registered a case against Pooja Naik of Old Goa following a complaint by Shruti Shridhar Kerkar, wife of late Shridhar Satarkar Kerkar of Keri-Ponda.

The complaint stated that prior to October 30, on different occasions Pooja had allegedly collected the money through the husband of complainant, Shridhar Kanta Satarkar Kerkar, from people on the pretext of providing s government job and did not provide any government job as assured, nor was the money returned. This had caused harassment, cheating and mental torture to Shridhar Satarkar Kerkar.

The complaint further stated that Pooja had allegedly abetted Shridhar Satarkar Kerkar to commit suicide and further he committed suicide sometime between October 30 and November 2, and his body was found on November 2.

On a transfer warrant from Porvorim Police Station, the accused Pooja Naik, was on Saturday taken to the Mardol Police Station for investigation in the above crime and was placed under arrest. She is presently lodged in police lockup. Investigations are in progress.
