OLD GOA
A peaceful protest meeting was held at Old Goa demanding a new Regional Plan for Goa as well as a Master Plan for Old Goa.
The meeting was held along the Old Goa-Corlim junction road on Saturday in which various speakers outlined the need for a new Regional Plan as the 2021 plan has expired.
The speakers also pointed out that the Old Goa heritage can be preserved only with the help of a Master Plan which will ensure that unwanted projects do not crop up in the area.
The speakers highlighted how, in the absence of a Regional Plan, land conversions are done in large-scale through amendments in the State, including Old Goa.
A demand was made that the government should take a decision on the new Regional Plan before January 26 next year.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Velim MLA Cruz Silva and was supported by various activists including Mariano Ferrao, Rama Kankonkar, Sanjay Naik, Fidoll Pereira and others.
Political leaders also attended which included AAP State President Amit Palekar, Cumbarjua Congress Block President Vishal Volvoikar, and others.
At the meeting it was decided to hold more such meetings in other parts of the State before a massive meeting in Panaji.
