MARGAO
All three BJP candidates wasted no time in filing their nominations to the ZP polls for the three seats of Keri, Honda and Nagargao in Sattari taluka, on the first day of filing of nominations.
The three BJP candidates -- Sagun Vadkar (Honda ZP), Devyani Gawas (Keri ZP) and Rajashree Kale (Nagargao ZP) -- filed their nominations in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and all three sarpanchas in Sattari taluka.
Earlier in the day, all three candidates invoked blessings at the Hanuman temple in Valpoi, before proceeding in a large roadshow to submit their nominations to the returning officer at Valpoi.
Later speaking to reporters, Vishwajit was confident that all three BJP candidates would win the ZP polls on March 22 by a huge margin.
“I am satisfied with BJP’s faith on my selection of candidates to all three ZP seats in Sattari. Since the last few years I have been focusing on development of Sattari and as far as employment is concerned, it will definitely be resolved after the ZP elections,” said Vishwajit.
There had been some concerns over reservations of ZP seats and while the Nagargao ZP seat is reserved for OBC women, the Keri ZP seat has been reserved for women.
The present ZP members in Sattari are Premnath Hazare (Nagargao), Saraswati Vadkar (Honda) and Pandurang Gaonkar (Keri).
