In what is seen as a massive show of strength aimed at sending a signal loud and clear to all and sundry that the entire party is solidly behind South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo, BJP bigwigs as well as party rank and file from South Goa descended on Margao on Tuesday before they all marched to the office of the Returning Officer for the filing of nomination papers.

Apparently overwhelmed by the response from party leaders and workers, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant resurrected his phrase “Bhivpachi garaz na” by asking the workers to convey to Pallavi that she need not worry over her election.

All the six Ministers in Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Cabinet comprising of Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Faldesai, Power Minister Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira, Water Resources department Minister Subhash Shirokdar, besides Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar kept their date in Margao for the D-day.

Party’s coalition partner Curtorim Independent MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, besides the BJP MLAs from South Goa, Digambar Kamat, Nilesh Cabral, Ganesh Gaonkar, Sankalp Amonkar, Krishna Daji Salkar and Ulhas Tuemkar all were seen at the district Collectorate.

That’s not all. Majority of the party workers seated in the temporary pandal erected outside the BJP office turned out to be women, an apparent signal to the opposition that the party  woman candidate has received the blessings and support of the women folk for her candidature.

That Chief Minister Pramod Sawant personally led the saffron brigade from the BJP district office located near the Margao KTC bus stand as the leaders and the workers along with Pallavi Dempo marched to the office of the Returning officer to file her papers.

As the party bigwigs, including Ministers and MLAs were seated on the dais, Chief Minister took to the podium saying the party is going to file the nomination papers today not of Pallavi Dempo but of the Lotus symbol and the party workers

Complimenting the party workers for work hard on the ground for the party’s victory in South Goa, the Chief Minister cautioned that the next 20 days will be crucial for every worker. In fact, he made a fervent plea to the party workers to treat the May 7 election as a Panchayat and Municipal poll by going to the people and conveying them PM Modi’s achievements and his future plan for the country and Goa.

“Tell the people of South Goa to come out and vote not only for Pallavi but for PM Modi for the development of the country for the next 25 years”, the CM said.
