Every Goan will benefit from double tracking: Dhavalikar

MARGAO

Call it a first sign aimed at soft polarization or a just a reminder to drive home the point that the people who had once opposed the Konkan Railway are opposing track doubling project, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) supremo Ramkrishna Dhavalikar on Tuesday said the same people who had opposed the Konkan railway are today objecting to the track doubling project.

When the media was questioning BJP South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo on her views on track doubling and coal, Dhavalikar intervened saying the same persons who were opposing Konkan railway are now travelling to Mumbai, Delhi and Madras (Chennai).

Publicly batting for the track doubling project, Dhavlikar further said “In future, the double track will facilitate the trains to run faster. Even the goods in demand in Goa such as cement will be available at cheap rates. Prices of goods will come down by 30 per cent once the trains run on the double track. Every Goan will benefit out of track doubling project”, Dhavlikar said.

Saying it is not proper to link track doubling and the Sagarmala project to coal transportation, Dhavlikar said  “Only the coal that is coming into the state with permission will be allowed. Coal beyond the sanctioned capacity will not be allowed”.
