The Bharatiya Janata Party has planned a series of welfare activities for 20 days from Sept 17 on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday and his completion of 20 years in public life.
Announcing the programme from the party headquarters on Thursday, State BJP President Sadanand Tanavde said various events have been planned all over the State from Sept 17 to Oct 7.
“To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two decades in public service, the BJP will organise a 20-day ‘Seva and Samarpan’,” Tanavde said.
“40,000 postcards will be mailed to the PM praising his contribution in public life. Party workers at booth level will be involved in holding various programmes around the State,” he added.
The entire 20-day programme will be coordinated by BJP leader Damu Naik who has been selected as the convenor of the event and Gorakh Madrekar as co-convenor.
Environment-related activities like cleaning of water bodies and tree plantation will also be undertaken during the campaign under the leadership of convenor Girish Uskaiakar and co-convenor Prabhakar Gaokar.
Similarly, Sharmad Raiturkar has been appointed as the convenor and Akhil Parrikar as co-convenor for carrying out health activities like blood donation camp, vaccination camp etc.
Fruit distribution and providing ration to the poor will be carried out by Kishor Asnodkar and Anita Kavlekar while media and publicity related activities have been entrusted to other leaders.
Besides, Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary will also be celebrated on September 25 and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 with cleanliness drives across the state.
Tanavde said since Narendra Modi became prime minister in 2014, the BJP has been celebrating his birthday as ‘Seva Diwas’and organises welfare activities across the country for a week but this time it has been extended to 20 days as Modi is completing his two decades in electoral politics.
