Top officials of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) are in a quandary after it was flooded with requests to restore the original schedule of the second term exam for the Science stream students of Class XII.
On March 8, the Board tweaked the original timetable to prepone the Biology paper from April 16 to April 8. The change was made since the National Testing Agency (NTA) had scheduled the JEE mains from April 16.
However, the NTA has now postponed the JEE, to begin from April 21, and the Goa Board is consequently flooded with requests to also tweak the schedule and revert to the original timetable for the Class XII Science stream students.
The change in the schedule will have the Class XII science students answering five subject papers, including the crucial Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers back-to-back from April 5 to 9 without a day's break. Usually, the Board ensures a break in between at least the tougher papers.
There is no official communication from the GBSHSE, and its chairman Baghirath Shetye also could not be reached for comment. However, an official acknowledged having received petitions.
The Board is likely to consider the requests and take an appropriate decision soon, said the official who did not want to be identified due to lack of authority.
