A man was arrested on charges of duping his sister of jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh in Mapusa on Tuesday.
According to the complainant Nila Dessai of Dattawadi-Mapusa, her brother, Mahadev Warang, cheated her and went away with her gold jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh which was in a bank locker. Mapusa Police disclosed that the mother of the children had a bank locker where the daughter had kept all her gold ornaments, including diamonds and white gold. After her mother’s death some years ago, the bank locker got transferred into her son’s name. For the last two years, the sister was requesting her brother to return her jewellery, but the brother kept postponing the decision and buying time, police said.
Suspecting that her brother must have cheated her, on Tuesday, the sister lodged a police complaint against her kin.
