An argument about ancestral property took a violent turn when a woman is alleged to have stabbed her brother in their house at Sancorda on Sunday night.
The woman, however, claims that their mother had stabbed her brother.
The man is currently undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital in Bambolim, while the woman has been arrested in this connection.
According to sources, the woman was married to a man from Bhoma-Adkona panchayat about 10 years ago, but he sent her back to her family in Sancorda on learning that she had some mental illness. Since then, she has been staying with her family.
On Sunday night, the woman entered into an argument with her brother over their ancestral property and she is reported to have demanded her share in the property, while also insisting that her family should arrange for her marriage once again.
During the ensuing argument, there was a power outage and the woman allegedly brought out a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her brother.
Their mother alerted their neighbours, who in turn, notified the police and admitted the injured brother in hospital.
The woman, however, has accused her mother of stabbing her brother. A Collem police team led by PI Prajyot Fadte is investigating the case.
