The dry and wet garbage treatment plant at Cacora in Curchorem will be inaugurated on May 30.
This was stated by PWD Minister and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral during his visit to the plant on Tuesday.
Cabral informed that the plant is on a trial run since the last few days and it will remain operational for the next few days to ensure the plant runs effectively and smoothly after it is inaugurated.
“Technical and other minor problems, if any, will be rectified and put in place before the formal inauguration of the plant,” claimed Cabral, who has been instrumental in getting the plant installed at Curchorem despite initial opposition from a section of the people, particularly those residing in the neighbourhood.
Cabral assured that the plant will run on sophisticated technology and will not cause any problems to people in the neighbourhood.
Cabral informed that the Cacora plant, constructed at the cost of Rs 173 crore, will easily handle 100 tonnes of wet and dry waste per day and will cater to the waste disposal collected from Sanguem, Curchorem, Quepem and Darbandora.
